Lofi Chess is a YouTube channel publishing daily chess highlights. This policy covers the lofichess.org website and the Lofi Chess publishing tool, a private application that uses the YouTube API Services to manage videos on the Lofi Chess channel.

YouTube API Services

The Lofi Chess publishing tool uses the YouTube API Services. By using it, you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service. Google's handling of your data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.

Who uses the tool

The publishing tool is used only by the operator of the Lofi Chess channel to manage that channel. It is not offered to the public, and it does not access any other person's Google or YouTube account.

What data the tool accesses

With the channel owner's permission, granted through Google sign-in, the tool requests one scope, youtube. It uses it to read the channel's own uploads and to set their titles, descriptions, tags, thumbnails, playlists and publishing schedule. Videos are uploaded by hand in YouTube Studio, not through the tool.

The tool reads only the Lofi Chess channel's own videos and playlists. It does not read comments, subscribers, analytics, viewers' personal information, or any other user's data.

How data is used and stored

• The OAuth access and refresh tokens are stored only on the channel operator's own computer, in a file readable only by that user account. They are never sent to any server other than Google's.
• Video metadata the tool writes (titles, descriptions, schedules) is kept in local files to track what has been published.
• No data obtained through the YouTube API Services is sold, shared with third parties, used for advertising, or used to train AI models.
• The tool's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Retention and deletion

Stored tokens are kept until access is revoked; the tool deletes them the next time Google rejects them. Local publishing records are kept for as long as the corresponding videos are managed. Data retrieved from the YouTube API Services is not kept for longer than 30 days unless it is refreshed by the API.

You can revoke the tool's access at any time from the Google security settings page. To request deletion of any stored data, email contact@lofichess.org.

This website

lofichess.org is a static site. It sets no cookies, has no accounts or forms, and runs no analytics or advertising. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, may process standard request data such as IP addresses to deliver and secure the site, as described in Cloudflare's privacy policy.

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with an updated date.
